HOUSTON (Reuters) -
Halliburton Co (HAL.N: Profile, Research) said on Monday that first-quarter profit rose 6 percent, meeting Wall Street expectations, as customers in markets including the Middle East and Asia spent more on oil and gas exploration and production.
Halliburton and rivals including Schlumberger Ltd (SLB.N: Profile, Research) and Weatherford International Ltd (WFT.N: Profile, Research) have seen faster growth in overseas markets, while North America has slowed.
Record crude oil prices and a two-year high in natural gas futures prices have prompted exploration companies to increase spending, leading to a more optimistic outlook--even in North America--for the oilfield services companies.
"The fundamentals of the world oil and gas market are projecting that the next leg up (sounds like something a dog would do to a fire hydrant) in this extended cycle is near," Dave Lesar, Halliburton's chief executive, said in a statement.
Lesar also said North America "...is much stronger than may have been anticipated just a few months ago." (so much for the environment...)
Halliburton, which opened a headquarters in Dubai last year (ALONG WITH WORLD-COURT-IMMUNE-RETIREMENT PROPERTY FOR THEIR BUSH ERA NEOCON CO-CONSPIRATORS) in a bid to win more international business, said first-quarter profit increased to $584 million, or 64 cents per share, from $552 million, or 54 cents per share, a year earlier.
Analysts on average had expected a profit of 64 cents, according Reuters Estimates.
Revenue rose 18 percent to $4 billion. (Can we find out what percentage of that was in no-bid contracts?)

many months prior to the terror attacks of 9/11,
Cheney has single-handedly steered America away from being a nation among nations (albeit superior), operating (roughly) in accordance with the rule of law, and toward its present manifestation as the new Rome, a decadent imperial power bent on global domination whatever the cost. The absolute worst of the rot that has infected America because of the policies and actions of the Bush administration has originated from the office of the vice president. The nonsensical response to the terror attacks of 9/11, seeking a “global war” versus defending the rule of law at home and abroad, taking the lead in spreading the lies that got us involved in Iraq, legitimizing torture as a tool of American jurisprudence, advocating for warrantless wiretappings of U.S.-based communications (regardless of what the Fourth Amendment says against illegal search and seizure), and pushing for an expansion of America’s global conflict into Iran—
...all can be traced back to the person of Cheney as the point of origin."

All he needs is the President's order." The Washington Post reports Lt. Gen. R. Steven Whitcomb said facilities in Kuwait "have handled as many as 240,000 troops moving into and out of Iraq in as little as a three-month period during the war's major rotations. PROSECUTE PROFITEERING LINKS
TO CHENEY'S FORMER COMPANY!!!
THIS IS THE STORY WE'LL BE FOLLOWING FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT WEEK;
The Worm has turned... how many more of these little profiteering schemes were foisted upon us since this "war" began, especially in the early days when cash was being tossed around in million-dollar bundles?
Federal investigators have uncovered what they describe as a sweeping network of kickbacks, bribes and fraud involving at least eight employees and subcontractors of KBR, the former Halliburton subsidiary, (particularly during Cheney's tenure) in a scheme to inflate charges for flying freight into Iraq in support of the war, according to court papers unsealed yesterday.
The latest conviction in the cases related to the scheme came yesterday, when a former Houston-based executive for an air-freight carrier hired by KBR pleaded guilty in federal district court to dispensing bribes and then lying to federal investigators. the scheme by the Eagle executives began in November 2003 when a plane operated by a rival carrier, DHL, was struck by a missile and landed in Baghdad with its left wing in flames. The Eagle executives used that incident to charge a fraudulent “war-risk surcharge” of 50 cents for every kilogram (2.2 pounds) of freight on its own flights, the papers say.
Between November 2003 and July 2004, Eagle made 379 flights as part of the subcontract, charging some $13.3 million — an amount that included $1.1 million in overcharges. It is not clear whether KBR knew of the overcharging scheme, (not clear? to whom? it is pretty clear to ANYONE WITH A BRAIN!!!) but the papers say that Mr. Smoot and an Eagle subordinate delivered nearly $34,000 in gratuities to KBR employees “to obtain or reward favorable treatment” in connection with the contract.
According to the papers, the gratuities included “meals, drinks, golf outings, tickets to rodeo events, baseball and football games and "other entertainment" (should we cross-check the DC Madame's list here?)

This is just the exposed tip, the tiniest fraction, of the biggest war-profiteering conspiracy in human history. If investigators are given full access to the Truth, then I believe they will discover it goes all the way to the top, particularly in terms of the OVP. And the dollar figures will be mind-boggling.

Among all Americans, 25% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 71% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 23% approve and 73% disapprove. Among Americans registered to vote, 27% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 70% disapprove. When it comes to the way Bush is handling the economy, 23% of registered voters approve of the way Bush is handling the economy and 72% disapprove.
This is the highest level of disapproval and lowest level of approval for the Bush presidency recorded in monthly surveys by the American Research Group.
